Cover fx cover drops question.

Hello you gorgeous ladies!

I have a question to anyone who has used these drops, particularly those with combination/oily skin. Of all the reviews I've read, this seems like a love it or loathe it product, but I'm assuming that has a lot to do with what people are mixing it with. I got a sample from sephora the other day, because I'm fed up with the trial and error of foundations, but I was given a VERY small amount. I expected a small sample given the nature of the product, but I can probably only get 3-4 mixtures out of (using what would roughly be 2 "drops" each time), so I want to be particular about what I mix it with to give it a fair trial before I purchase a full size. ANYWAY, long-winded way of asking, what products/types of products have given you the best finish? Any tips and tricks for getting the most out of this product? Thanks!

I have it myself and I can't stress the importance of less is more with this stuff. It's that pigmented. Most times I can get away with one tiny drop to darken up my IT Cosmetics CC cream. Anymore than that and it cancels out the luminous finish I like of the CC cream. And it ups to a full coverage look. Something I'm not a fan of when I'm having a good skin day. I use to to darken up my liquid tinted SPF's or to add color to my untinted versions. In both I get a nice finish that allows me to set lightly with powder in my tzone and I'm good to go. It does not play well with my Josie Maran Moisturizing SPF47. But it looks great with my moisturizers without SPF. It was a hot bloody mess mixing with an oil (which I tried out of curiousity)...Josie Maran Argan Oil Light. It does well with fusion foundation formulas...at least from my experience. In regards to how much when it comes to drop size...place the desired product in the palm of your hand (be sure uou have cleansed your hands with antibacterial soap)...and then add a half a drop of the Cover FX. Mix with a q-tip and apply. If you are a fan of the BeautyBlender the cover drops will stain it so a brush or your fingers will be your best friend. Be sure you also shake the life outta the bottle so it all mixes well because the pigment does separate if it's been sitting for a long time. My daughter mixes in a shot glass using a synthetic paint brush that she buys from the craft store.

Thank you for all the information, Shelley! I was going to try it with my moisturizer w/ spf tomorrow, but now I think I might save that experiment for if/when I purchase the full size. That's a bummer that it didn't work with oil, that's generally what I wear under my makeup. I have a basic hyaluronic acid serum, maybe that'll be a good fit. Thanks!

I have the custom cover drops and have tried mixing them with everything and it always seems to break up and get patchy on my skin. 😟

You might be using too much Laine and that's probably why it's breaking up and getting patchy on you.

Shelley what shade are you using? I'm thinking about buying it but no clue of the shade... and we both are the same shade

Sam... I have N100. Actually thinking about getting a lighter one for my two summer foundations because I love the finish on them and not ready to pack them into my summer basket of foundation shades.

DO NOT MIX IT WITH THE JOSIE MARAN LIGHT ARGAN OIL. Shelley is right on that bc I tried that and had to wash it off my face and start over. Disgusting. Also did not work well mixed with my It cosmetics primer serum. I ended up taking it back after trying one other thing and I don't remember what it was but it sucked with all 3 things I tried:(

Ugh I know. I really wanted to love this bc I truly love the idea but the execution was messy each time I tried. It stopped being a fun experiment and started becoming frustrating. So not what I want from my makeup:(

I mix it with my Mac strobe cream and it works fine. I wear it on days when I feel not to wear too much makeup. Sometimes I mix it with Mac mineralize moisture foundation and it becomes less shiny on me which is fine. With my JM argan oil, I havent tried it yet. Cos I only use it when I don't want to use my strobe cream. Hmm... I should try this and let you know my thoughts. But overall, I like this product. I have dry to normal skin.
