Hello everyone! (EDIT NC15 not NW-Fixed)
So yesterday I was shopping makeup and I had to go to Mac to buy makeup sponges and also I wanted to check out the pro-longwear concealer. So I asked the one and only girl who worked there to help me with the shades and to inform me about the product and she said to me (have in mind that I am NC-15 and C2 on the studio fix powder, which means I am really pale and yellow), that I should go for the one with the pink undertone. And then she went to another customer. And I stood there thinking again and again everything I know about colour matching and correcting and I kept thinking that for dark circles you should go for something with a yellow undertone (at least with the colour my circles are) plus I want to match it with my foundation and everything...
I am extremely confused...
If someone (with mac pro longwear conc. experience) can tell me what shade should I choose (again I'm really pale with a yellow undertone) and some colour correcting-matching advise, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance and sorry for my bad english.

Hi Irine! At MAC, NW actually does mean you have cool (or pink) undertones. C, however, is yellow undertones to my knowledge (I'm not positive, I've never used any of their foundations that don't have an "N" in them lol). So it's possible you're more on the neutral spectrum if both of them match you.

Keep in mind that MAC shades don't transfer between lines - and NW15 in one foundation type is not an NW15 in another one of their foundation lines, which is very strange and annoying.

If I were you, I'd go and ask for samples of a couple you think could be your match so you can test them out at home and in different lighting :)

Thank you Jamie I actually made a mistake (I fixed it) I am NC not NW (Mac and their names...).
Unfortunately where I live (Thessaloniki, Greece) for some reason they never give samples. I got one only once at Mac from a very helpfull and friendly girl who worked there.

If you're neutralizing purple/blue which under eyes usually are I'd do the NC, honestly I'd do NC anyway if you always match to an NC and the rest of your products are. If you're neutralizing greenish tones I'd do the pink... But like I said, I'd keep the shades consistent

I wear nc15 in prolong wear foundation and nw15 in the corresponding concealer as I find the pink tone neutralizes my dark circles!

I still don't get it. I thought that for dark circles you should go for something yellowish-salmonish or somewhere in between, based on the colour wheel...
plus I usually use my concealer for everywhere on my face (nose, chin, sometimes forehead) so I really don't want to end up looking pink...
again which shade would you suggest?

Not all darkness under the eyes are the same tone.

If your under eye area has purple tones then yes, you'd use a yellow color corrector.

If your under eye area has bluish tones, use a peach corrector.

If you have redness under your eyes, use their ash corrector.

If you have a quite dark under eye area, then a concealer in the opposite tone won't do much, if anything. You'd actually have to go in with a color-corrector to prevent ashiness.

So, if your under eye area isn't that dark then yes, just grab the NC shade, you should be fine.
If you notice that it looks a bit ashy then you'd want to purchase a yellow/peach corrector to use under your concealer.

This is especially true if you're in the "C" range.
I'm in the "C" range and a worker there tried to have me use an NW under my eyes but it just made my under eye area look too pink and obvious

NC= golden beige
C#= yellow
C##= golden/olive.

"C" shades have more yellow in them.
I wore an NC35 but found it was pink on me so I'm more in the C4 or C35 coloring.

Thank you Aurora. Actually they are not very dark (they're purple-ish) but because I am pale they stand out more. But I think I made my decision. NC it is! Thank you ladies!
