So I tried a hair mask I found online, it sounded great.. olive oil, honey, banana, and milk. After putting it in however my scalp started burning. I immediately washed it out and I swear it felt more dry then before. Do you think it's my products or the recipe? What are some better ones?

If your scalp burned, definitely don't use it anymore. Different hair masks will react differently with other people. I personally mix oils or sometimes even just use coconut oil in my hair as a mask because it doesn't irritate my scalp and it still gives me the moisture I want 😊

Hmm, okay thank you! I was just looking at some coconut oil at the grocery store but wasn't sure if it's the same as the one used on hair. Do you know if it is? I mean that in the sense that I don't know if it has flavoring or ingredients not meant for hair lol.

Banana dries my hair out really bad for some reason, it feels awful after I use anything containing banana! The coconut oil at the grocery store is what you would use on your hair, as long as it's just coconut oil. Works like a charm for me.

Yes, I use the coconut oil you get at the grocery stores. 😊

I have read suggestions on here, definitely from Rozberry, about making sure the coconut oil is cold pressed and unrefined. Double check that though. In terms of your burning, it could be the honey. I know that there are some who are allergic, even though they can eat it etc. I recently had an incident with Burts bees milk and honey lotion. After using it on my arms, the next day I had hives/rash. I'd cut out the use of honey for it.

And thanks Jackie, I've only every used olive oil on my hair so I will be sure not to use those other ingredients anymore.

I swear by coconut oil for body and hair. I give my scalp a good rub and leave it in all night.

My guess is it's the honey, especially if it was regular store bought honey instead of raw honey. Store bought honey is only 5-10% honey, the rest is basically sugar and preservatives.

If you use coconut oil or any other oil make sure that your hair is damp before you put it in because it sounds like you have a sensitive scalp like me. If I don't dampen my hair before I use coconut oil it falls out in big clumps.
