First, I would definitely trim it to shoulder length, or if that is too short, a few inches past your shoulders. Next, layers, layers, layers! If you go with bangs, then go with shorter layers, starting from bang length to the full length of your hair. (This can be achieved by either having them cut at a 90 or 45 degree angle, your stylist can show you the difference). If you opt to not get bangs, then have it long layered (180 degree cut, again the stylist can show you)
As for color, I wouldn't suggest going black, if you change your mind, it's too late. The only thing you can do is bleach it (danger, danger!!) or let it grow out. Instead, perhaps warm up your color by adding some red into it and a few highlights. If you have your hair layered, highlights will enhance the different lengths. Lastly if and when you have your hair cut, make sure to ask the stylist to texturize it. Texturizing eliminates harsh layer lines, adds body and volume and basically just blends the whole look.
One last idea that popped into my head was colored highlights, say like red. You are young and can definitely pull it off! Let me know what you decide and post pics!! Hope this helped!
I posted a pic of the last idea, I had a couple to show you other options, but would only let upload one :/
