The Wella Charm toner in T10 will definitely get you to a silver color.

Yes I used the purple shampoo cause this girl who does hair said I have to use it but it just kept turning purple.
do I just use the toner or is there something I mix with it.

Honestly a toner is one of the least effective ways to get silver hair as it does not actually colour the hair and fades up with each wash. The t10 is meant to be used with other hair colours as an additive to adjust the undertone though some people just use it with developer for Grey hair. A more effective way to get silver hair that doesn't fade as fast is to use an actual silver dye. Two that I have tried are the manic panic blue steel and the berina light grey permanent hair colour. When it comes to maintenance, It is a hard colour to keep up with and you should avoid over washing, but when you do wash with cold water and a silver shampoo.

With toner you use the toner and 20 developer.
Then I'd use the Matrix Silver shampoo once a week maybe, to help keep the silver
Another option I did was mix a blue hair color with magenta and conditioner till I got a grey sort of lilac tone and applied it all over my hair and that worked great too.
My hair was very silver and on me it didn't fade soon since I only needed to wash my hair 1-2x a week.
I personally didn't use the permanent hair dyes because like someone has mentioned, it's hard to keep. I didn't want to constantly use a 30 developer or more like once a month especially with fairly processed hair.
Adding color using a toner or semi permanent color with a 20 developer or conditioner is far less damaging since they only stain the hair
With permanent hair color you HAVE to use a 30 developer or more and when you use a permanent hair color it involves opening up the cortex which can remove some color and then it replaces it with the artificial color.
Constantly having to do that takes its toll and fairly quickly on those with processed hair

Aurora the manic panic which is the first I mentioned is a veggie dye and does not use developer lol. It's awesome! Lasts so long as well. Although if your hair is light enough you can get away with using the berina with a 20vol, which is what I did and it works perfectly fine.

Wait, why do you have to use 30 vol with permanent color? permanent color can be used with anything from 5 vol to 40 vol. typically 20Vol is used, especially with grey coverage. using a toner with 20 vol is basically making it a permanent dye. toners and semi permanent colors should be used with its own deposit only deveoloper. with will make it just thay, deposit only. 20 vol with toner still opens up the hair shaft. Brittany is right with the suggestion of manic panics blue steel. also Joico makes a titanium direct dye that is awesome mixed with some clear or conditioner.

And to add to this, unless you are lifting hair (making lighter) or covering grey, permanent color really only needs to be used with a 5 vol or 10 vol.

^ using a 5 or 10 vol with permanent color will last the same as using a toner with 10 or 20 since both cases involve only staining the hair rather than lifting

Actually, that is incorrect. permanent color contains ammonia and stronger chemicals them a semi color (a lot of semi dyes contain a lot of conditioning agents). mixing permanent color with 5 or 10 vol is still permanent. it does not penetrate the hair as deep as 20Vol would, making it a good option for refreshing ends. I have even mixed permanent dye with deposit only developer. toner with 10 or 20 vol does not just stain the hair. 10 or 20 still provides some lift and penetrate on into the hair regardless of what it is mixed with.

Joico titanium diluted with conditioner. you can probably find it on amazon. it's the intensity semi permanent line. you may need to play around with how much conditioner you add in. it has great staying power.

Or manic panic blue steel. it's more of a silver/grey color then blue.
