Red lipstick help?

I really want to wear red lipstick but I feel like whenever I apply a red lip it looks as if I'm trying to look like a vampire and I feel I look ridiculous. Does anyone else feel like this or is it the lipsticks I use?
I have blonde hair blue eye and fair skin, does anyone have any drugstore recommendations so I can try out red lipstick?

I don't have any recommendations as far as product but maybe for your lipstick try an orange based lipstick so it appears brighter instead of a blue based lipstick? Or maybe apply a brighter color (more than likely pink) underneath the red and see if that helps?

Maybelline! Their lipsticks are my life. They have a beautiful orange based red lipstick that's matte! :) My personal favorite is Perfect Plum by them, because it helps hide the fact that my teeth aren't pearly white :) The red matte lipstick is called Rich Ruby (691) :) Cx

Estée Lauder it's a reddy orangey Lippyy but looks red and amazing I had same problem.

Kate Moss has a lovely matte shade 111 and it's by rimmel!! Give it a try!
