What To Do When You R Insecure About Something?

Hey so I'm really insecure about my nose, its long and many people have pointed that out to me...especially relatives. Even when I think I look okay...I remember what they said and get upset all over again. I was wondering if any of you have insecurities and how do you deal with them?? and is there anyway to contour my nose to make it look shorter/smaller?

My reply may not be makeup related but stand tall and love yourself for who you are EVERYONE has insecurities. Confidence underneath the makeup is what really makes women beautiful no matter what size or shape their nose (eyes, lips, ears, etc) is. Find something you love about your appearance (eyes, lips, cheekbones, etc) and enhance it. As a makeup artist this is how I approach a look when a client shares their insecurities.

Yes I agree! Everyone has something they don't like about themselves, but don't focus on that! I know it sounds cliche but you really are beautiful and you shouldn't get upset because others find a flaw! We are all flawed people and wish we could change something about ourselves! Just keep smiling and reminding yourself that you are beautiful!

Ban, I know how you feel. My nose has been something I have been struggling to accept. I have a deviated nose, which means I also have a deviated septum When you look at my nose, it is not only slightly crooked, but also it has a 'nice' bump. When I was younger I would complain constantly. My parents even said I could get a nose job when I was 18 if I wanted. Now that I am in my late 20s, I have learned that it is just something that gives me character and makes me, me. Yes, I do have days that I wish it was perfect, but then I remember it IS perfect for me. Slowly you will start to see that your nose was made for you. And trust me, ignore your family :)

Yes you can contour your nose by using a taupe shade, the cooler the undertone is, the more it will give you a shadow effect to make it shorter or smaller. Carli byble on YouTube does this all the time as she has a long nose or something like that. You can look her up she does it in almost all her videos! Anyway besides that, relatives can be too hard on ourselves they can be critical and kind of unnecessary in those aspects because they are the ones who are supposed to love everything about us regardless. I never really let it get to me though when it used to happen.

Makeup can hide some of our best flaws ;) what I mean is that yes makeup can hide our cosmetic flaws but it won't change how you see yourself - you have to change the way you think about it - instead of looking at it negatively when someone points out your nose - think of it as a compliment - it's long and that's beautiful! I know a lot of people that would kill for a long nose (most are Asian with a flat nose and I'm similar to you in that people point out my big nose but I just think they are jealous that's why they point it out) so yes you can use makeup to hide it but it won't necessarily make you feel better about it - you have to change your own mind about it if you really want to solve the root of the problem - so hopefully you find your long nose is beautiful because it makes you unique :!

Thanks for the advice Amanda! I guess It wouldnt hurt to appreciate the features that I'm happy with :) I like my hazel eyes...ill definitely look up ways to enhance them makeup wise :)

Yes you can contour it but I don't think you should stress over it. Everyone has their insecurities and honestly I've never met anyone that didn't have a problem with their nose. It's just something that nobody really like having so don't worry about it :)

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question jackie! its nice to know someone that used to feel the same way, I'm really happy that you learned to love yourself and become confident. I'm really glad that you didnt do the surgery because you look beautiful the way you are :) I hope that I can learn from you! :)

Livi, I just looked up her videos and I have a very simillar nose! thanks for the help ill definitely check out her videos :) its nice to know that my relatives arent the only ones like that!

thanks for stopping by Diana, I guess I do need to love myself before wearing makeup, you gave me this whole different view that I never thought about before! just checked out your profile pic...you are gorgeous just the way you are and I'm glad that the nonsense people sometimes say didnt affect you :)

You my relatives always complain/make fun of my dark complexion. The best thing to do is laugh it out with them. You probably must be showing some way of insecurity and that is what makes them do more. When they see you laughing out your imperfect perfections they'll eventually stop. And believe me this works. See I live in pakistan. Here you can't go out wearing shirts and jeans. People always call me a tomboy. Complain to my dad. But he always says that when she is hanging out with me or her friends she will wear whatever she wants, when she is visiting you she'll wear long shirts. That is basically done to shut them up. So always laugh out your perfect imperfections to make the other person stop. 😊😊☺️
