I would see the movie and notice with full concentration on her make-up, hair, accessories etc. That would be of great help to achive the classic full ariel look.

Yeah what soha said and also if that doesn't work to well the Broadway musical will probably have some inspiration plus (I may be wrong) but I'm pretty sure Sierra (the person who played Ariel on Broadway) has uploaded a tutorial video I heard it when my school did the little mermaid and I wasn't Ariel so I didn't look into it so I don't know if it's true
