Just beware of which substance you use, since some lightening products (for exemple containing hydroquinone) are linked to skin cancer. Try and go a safe route! Diana is absolutely correct, spf is a must!

I really like L'Oreal liquid highlighters, and use the highlighter like a bronzer (look up strobing on youtube)

I wouldn't try to make your skin lighter. You don't your face lighter than your body. But you can prevent your skin from getting darker. Exfoliating regularly & wearing sunblock EVERYDAY even when there's no sun. And wearing a hat when you are spending time in the sun, like an amusement park, ball game or at the beach. Embrace your skin color and enhance it with makeup.

There's a huge Asian market for getting lighter skin. Which I fell for the hype at one time.

1. Use an lightening soap, these have to be left on a few minutes before washing. I prefer Kojic Acid (good ones are FunkyMommy, KojieSan, Dermaline) soap but glutathione is popular (Diana Stalder has a good one) because it's more gentle and you don't have to worry about the peeling.

2. Use a lightening cream , I personally love the Filipino Dermaline cream cause it actually worked for me. Another good option is the Cape Fear Naturals, the Kojic Acid one. Make sure to also get a good moisturizing cream cause these products can be drying

3. Use sunscreen EVERYDAY! I prefer physical sunscreens with Titanium Dioxide and/or Zinc Oxide.
They're heavier but I do feel they prevented me from getting more tan compared to the chemical sunscreens.

4. Stay out of direct sunlight. That's an issue that people lighten have. They think they can go out and about and if they get dark they just use more products.
WRONG. Using these products will make your skin more sensitive and could even cause you to get darker than before or cause sunburn.
So be sure you're wearing sunscreen and reapplying every few hours.

5. Patience, it's not going to happen overnight. It'll take months before you probably see any difference.
The first few weeks you'll notice your skin just looks more healthy and glowy, you don't breakout as much plus the hyper pigmentation doesn't last long.
It's a very gradual process and looks very natural. You won't go from Naomi Campbell to Rose McGowan, I don't think that's even possible with these types of products.
It's nothing like the stuff michael Jackson used
I was an NC42 and now I'm an NC30. Granted, my NC42 color was due to a tan but when I get tan it tends to linger for awhile

I completely agree with Aurora! Vitamin C serums help lighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation also. You can add that in after you exfoliate, cleanse, tone and use eye cream (if you use eye cream). Make sure you use a high level of sunscreen. I was using only 30 and found that my body was lighter than my face during the colder months Florida. I'm up to 47 using Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer. Just working on my neck. As always drink loads of water and eat healthier when you can.
