So I've heard a lot about using less heat and shampooing less, but what works for you girls? Like how often do you shampoo? What is your "rule" on using heat? Thanks!

I made the habit to shampoo everyday. I know everyone says it's bad but now if I don't shampoo it everyday it gets greasy. I also put leave in conditioner in after I condition in the shower. I use heat mostly everyday. honestly tho, my hair is healthy. a lot of people always give me compliments on my hair and how good it looks. I have curly thick hair that's easy to curl or straighten so I usually do one of the two everyday for school.

-use sulphate free shampoos
-use a hair mask at least once a week
-never brush hair when wet
-use as little heat as possible
-use a heat protectant when you do use heat
-get regular trims
-make sure your ponytails/buns aren't too tight
-drink plenty of water and keep yourself healthy as well

I use shampoo every other day, but I use purple shampoo on my roots on the blonde side of my hair everyday. As for heat, I never use it unless I just decided to dress up nice that day. But usually, I don't use any heat, no flat or curling irons and no blow dryers.

I'll just tell you what I do that works for my colored. normal hair. I shampoo every other day (more if I can manage), I use a low to no sulfate shampoo, use a moisturizing conditioner every time I get my hair wet and I use a hair oil after(sometimes Ogx Coconut oil or Marc anthony's argon oil). I generally don't use heat unless I'm going out and if I do I use a heat protector (always!). Sometimes I'll use a hair mask if I'm feeling sassy haha. I brush my hair before I shower and wait to brush it until it's barely damp/completely dry.

You said it, Savannah - there are so many different routines out there!
For me, I only shampoo my hair 2-3 times per week. I have been using Davines Oi shampoo and conditioner. When I get out of the shower, I pat my hair so it's not soaking wet. Sometimes I'll spray Garnier spray curling gel and scrunch if I want a more wavy look in the AM. I always take a shower at night and top knot my hair. My husband appreciates not having a facefull of hair all night, and I appreciate not getting my hair tangled up in my earrings!
It also gives me some waves in the AM. Most of the time, I'll just undo the top knot and let my hair air dry while scrunching some more. If it's still too wet, then I'll use a diffuser just for a few minutes. I usually just tousle my hair with my fingers.
