I have a habit of biting my nails and I really want to stop. I really want to have nice, long nails but I'm finding it hard to end the habit. What tips, tricks or advice can give me to stop?

Well you can stick something tht taste bad on your fingers like vinegar, or hand sanitizer if you don't want your hands to smell bad I used to bite my nails a lot and every time I went to bite my nails or I did I wouldn't I would try to resist if you know what I mean.

They have nailpolish you can put on your nails to make them taste awful so you won't bite them as much.

Maybe only bite the nails on one hand (this sounds so weird, but it does work), and then when you see how nicely the nails have grown on the other hand it will give you the motivation to stop biting them on the other hand. Also, once they start to grow, make sure to file them regularly so that they don't break. There's nothing worse than growing out your nails only to have one break :)

You should get French tips so you don't bite them. My friend did that and she stopped biting them.

Sadly, the only way I stopped was by putting on acrylics:(

I don't believe this works for everyone, but on my case simply whenever I realised I was biting my nails I told myself to stop and when I did this for a long time period I noticed that I got rid of the bad habit.

Personally getting acrylics ruined my nails. I used to be an chronic nail biter too and got acrylics for years. It's now been 5 years since I had acrylics and they still don't grow right. They are wavy and brittle. Everyone's nail grow at a different pace, mine may just be slow but I wouldn't pick acrylics. Anyways I started painting my nails and noticed I don't bite them at all, now I will pick off the polish but that is way less damage than biting them off.

Emily H. I really like your nails! Did you get French tips or just clear tips and then paint them? If you did paint them what color is that.

I like keeping my nails on the shorter sides as playing a string instrument prevents me from having long nails:(. But I like keeping them painted and not chipped so that they look prettier and I tell myself if I bite them I'll mess them up.

I had the exact same problem I would say paint them with pretty colours of nail polish regularly that would stop me from biting as I hate chipped nail polish! Mine are growing great now and I only bite them very rarely if I am nervous mostly... I would say when they do grow to keep them relatively short.. Because mine are weak from biting them and if I let them get long they break! Over time you can let them get longer! I also started using Sally Hansen hard as nails polish to strengthen them Hope this helps! 💅💅💅
