My sister is having a party set in the 1920s. How can I style her hair and a make up? Any tips would be appreciated.

I went to a "Roaring Twenties" thing over the summer and all I really did was put dark gray eye shadow around my eyes and red lipstick. I didn't have too much time for my makeup because I spent a long time on my hair.

Check out some flapper girls. your typical 1920s girl. usually a dramatic winged liner. nothing to extensive. that is my favorite era :)

I think if she has kind of an olive tone to her skin, try a plum colored lipstick instead of a bright red.

Curl your hair with a traditional curling iron then brush. Where a thicker headband kind of on the front. Thick black liner and bright red lipstick or a plum color.

Depending on her hair length do finger waves!! Long pearl necklaces, head bands (that go across forehead, not top of the head). Black eyeliner (just regular all the way around or winged), red or pink lips. Dress (not tight, not A line, but more so just straight). You can google image "1920s" or "flapper girls" for images, or even watch Chicago. I love the 20s/30s, such a beautiful era.

Its true... a smokey lid with a thin kitten line and dark lips... there weren't many makeup options back then... lots of dark colors for the lips... and dressrs had "dropped hips"... they made your torso look longer, and your legs would look shorter, which is funny considering how fashion is now. And very defined apples (of the cheek) with a wine or mauve like shade... eyelashes were very seperated and curly... avoid the cat eye!

The "it" girl had heavy eyeliner and darker browns for eye shadow. If you're dedicated, glue over the eyebrows and blend it and paint ultra thin lines for eyebrows. Google images work great :)

This is the look I came up with for my 20s party.

Okay, look. Not the best picture, but just focus on the eyes. And the blush is heavier, but really only flaunting the apples of the cheeks.
