I think that's the customer service industry in general. I'm not saying that shopping everywhere sucks (bc I'm a shopaholic and I know it's amazing) but 1. Not enough training is put into serving customers properly and 2. It seems like many ppl aren't happy with their jobs which is hard to fake when you're dealing directly with customers. I believe in fake it till you make it and that the #1 priority is making the customer comfortable so they want to stay and shop, not trying to rush them out of the store so you can bemoan your life woes in private. That being said, even when you've had bad customer service, it's the employees that go above and beyond that you never forget (even if it means scheduling your shopping time around their workday to make sure you have a good experience)

I have heard so many horrible things from people who shop at MAC. I just recently went to a MAC counter to make my first purchase and was surprised that the girl who assisted me was nice. I was fully expecting someone to be rude, snobby and stuck up and have an attitude with me. Which is what I ALWAYS get from Ulta, without fail. I do understand its not everyone who works in these places that's like that, but when so many people have these experiences something is wrong with the big picture. And the fact that there seem to be so many people who act like this in locations scattered throughout the world is even worse. Anyone who acts that way shouldn't have a job in customer service, period. Places like MAC, Ulta, Sephora, etc. should be monitoring their employees and anyone who is rude or snobbish should be relieved of their job because they are obviously not qualified to do it in the first place if they can't even be polite to their customers. I totally understand that their are really rude customers out there too. But I think most people are satisfied as long as you're polite and make a genuine effort to be helpful.

My problem with Mac is I feel they think I'm stupid. I don't need help matching lip liner to lipstick. I don't need to be asked if I want help every minute. I know what I'm soon at the Mac counter if I didn't I'd ask for help.

I shop with MAC a lot and have been to so many stores around the country. And although I have encountered some rude people there I have, 98% of the time, encountered amazing people. It's mostly how you present yourself to the person. Even if they're rude, or you feel like they dont know what they're talking about, you have to be the bigger person. You can't be rude, or be aggressive back, just nod your head and walk away. (No one matches your foundation better than yourself ) And honestly, if you feel like you're being treated poorly just talk to someone in management. Talking bad about them after you leave either online or with your friends doesnt make a difference, but if you really take the time and talk to someone in charge chances are that the next time you go into the store they'll be a bit more polite.

I guess I'm a tad offended only because I was just grouped into the "stupid" category. I pride myself in my customer service and my clientele will back that up. I understand the frustration but I agree with this being like any company- it's run by imperfect people.

I agree with erica. ^^ I take pride in helping out my customers to my best ability. I will be honest and say there are some people out there who are only there to make sales, but that doesnt mean everyone is there to hustle. it breaks my heart seeing so many people unhappy with their experience. I've had plenty of experiences with rude customer service at any places including sephora, ulta, restarants...etc. you can't let one person ruin your entire experience.

In the past I've had some downright tear jerking experiences with rude MAC staff. But over the past few months I've been dealing with two different locations who have extended superior service and now I bounce between those twos because of it. The third location, where I've had some ugly interactions in the past, is still the same old, same old. My husband had the joy of visiting that one and he was so disgusted by how they treated him and how they interacted with the other customers that he decided to not buy anything for me from there and walked out. You'll find rudeness everywhere but the key to overcoming it is spending your money where you are appreciated and valued.

WELL... ON A POSITIVE NOTE LOL I am satisfied with the MAC employees here in Sc. Could it be the southern hospitality♥♥?? I really cnt say, but I do kno this we stay super busy and even wen I'm not helped right away I'm willing to wait. Only cause I kno they're going to take care of me. So I'm good over here lol.

I have dealt with both good and bad service at MAC. Sorry to say more bad than good, where sometimes I dont feel like going back, and yes at different stores. Its usually among the lines of the "mua" giving the attitude that they work there they and are better than you, not being so interested in what you are looking for, and quite horrible at matching color. Also could not believe that MAC if not being the most popular brand would have ppl working there that arent as skilled as they should be with makeup application. Although these poor customer service situations do happen, I can at least say there are some ppl out there doing there job because it is likewise their passion and not just for the title " I work at MAC"

I love Mac but most of the workers have their nose up in the air idk y lol they do hate if you ask too many questions lol some are sweet though, some.

Wow, are all of these people from America? Here in Norway they're SO nice! (Lol, we have 4 MAC stores) But I've been a good customer since they opened, so no wonder they get excited when I come in xD.

I agree with Marcella, I've had bad experiences with MAC staff in Liverpool, Manchester and at the Trafford Centre. The staff seemed disinterested in helping me, were very abrupt when I asked about certain products...I won't be going back to Mac till their staff are given training in customer etiquette...the staff at Urban Decay on the other hand are simply lovvely ♥

I wonder if the company get any complaints because it seems like a lot of people get treated bad.I had both experience The Ying and the Yang of Mac.its about the sales if they for some reason think your not going to purchase they won't bother hence that's why some of them can't deal with all the questions but you do get some that are awesome and willing to take the time to answer questions and show you all the stuff they think would help.I do notice a lot of Mac stores not as busy anymore,I remember years ago there would be a line out the door at every store.

I think because of the brand being so popular that maybe the advisors feel they have to put on airs.

Read everyone's comments and wanted to chip in since I go to MAC at least once a month (and most times out of all, come out w products). I feel that when I have a full face of makeup compared to when I don't, I get treated very differently. I don't know if it's the judgement or generalization of "oh she doesn't have makeup on she must be a noob" or just that a lot of MAC artists feel themselves to be above others. Not sure. I have had both good and Bad. I will say that I do not like the pushiness when it comes to making me buy something, like I get it, but let it be. If I see something I like no matter how much you shove it in my face or you don't I will buy it. My best advice: shop around for stores w great service. I found one MAC here in Miami that I love! And it's where I go when I need something, who I call when I want something held for me etc. I treat my makeup stores like a psychiatrist. I shop around for the perfect customer service and return only to those people. Once you find someone you love even go as far as asking when they come in, so you just deal with them. I like to become people's regular client so that I don't have to deal with the unfamiliarity of dealing with new people. So I treat customer service like I treat a shade, I shop around for the perfect one.

The funniest thing to me is that when I do encounter a rude, crapoy sales person 99% of the time it's in a higher end store. Target, Bath & Body Works, etc... Are almost always pleasant experiences. I won't go to a MAC counter again. I buy online or go to another brand I can get @ Ulta.

VERY rude people in L.A. thats why I stopped buying MAC in 2006 and I bought 2 lipsticks in the past few months ONLY because I walked into a Macy's and a MAC girl asked if I needed help and so I told her my past experiences and she apologized ;)

I love my MAC store here in Dallas. And I lived working for MAC for a few years. Sad so many had bad experiences:/. My greatest joy was talking to clients and teaching and such. It was truly an amazing experience!! With all the sales pressure I am not surprised though. I worked at Nordstrom and did not realize the pressure until I noticed I had nail marks in my hands from the stress...thankfully I am out of that atmosphere Maybe that's why so sour??

I am a positive person so I see all the good and joy I got out of it. But my hubby noticed my hands and I had a quick reality check! Haha!

Thank you for all comments.I read each one and got surprised about so similar and smart opinions.I prefer buy where I'm valued. There are so much makeup brands in the world...Dior,UD,MUFE...and several girls and boys who love their jobs and no matter what happens treat the customer right.. someone said a beautiful thing;" You pick your money and go happy to the store to buy something you really want to.. and then, someone with nose up kick you ass..." lol! Kisses! bye bye!
