I recently decided to spend money on this great makeup only to be disappointed with the non pigmented shadows and the chalky paint pots. I heard the foundation is bad for your skin also. What's the deal?

What shadows did you purchase? The matte paint pots are opaque but the satin ones are sheer. They have 12 formulas of foundation so there is one that is healthy for all skin types.

I am currently working with a line called Motives. all their shadows and powders are very pigmented and go a long way. they also have custom blend foundations that are specifically made for your particular skin type and color.

It's the name. If you would have bought MAC years ago, like before To The Beach/Liberty of London, you would/could be getting your money's worth, but now you are not. MAC has spent too much time just pumping out collections for money but not spending enough time on their actual craft. It's just become a "cult favourite" because of what they used to be, but they're really not worth it anymore.

I suggest Inglot. When I went to Imats couple years ago they were there and omg so busy. But it was understandable because their eyeshadows are well pigmented and everyone was making custom palette, I made one and liked choosing and using it.

Some of its worth purchasing while other items are epic failures. Since locking down a sincere group of MAC artists from 2 locations I've re-discovered the brand and for me its been about swatching like a mad woman and researching product before I even bring anything home. Plus, it helps that the staff gives me blunt opinions (good and bad) on items. I totally agree with.

I totally agree with Rikki about MAC's quality going down with these massive collections every other month. It has definitely dragged down the quality...Carbon is a perfect example...I have a Carbon that was purchased back in 2002. Creamy, rich, intense black. Bought a new one as a back-up about 2 years ago. Dry, hard to work with...looks gray instead of being a true black. :( I find much success in the blushes and lippies. And I've had great results with the recent Archie collection.

I agree with the quality what happened? Why did it change.

There's definitely a hit and miss for MAC, generalization should be avoided..

I think people get crazy about the new collections which are launched every month!

It changed Alma when the line was bought out by the Estee Lauder family. Once they obtained the line the quality was affected and the number of collections increased all in the name of sales/profit. And I also noticed that they are slowly increasing the number of collections for Bobbi Brown as well (also owned by Lauder).

I get 30% off so everything is cheap. Obsessed with their fluidline.

When was MAC bought out by Estee Lauder? Was it around the time they started pumping out the collections like crazy (after LOL/TTB) or? 'Cos I loved Liberty of London to death and then after that, I noticed the more terrible reviews.
