Does anyone have experience with hair weaves? I would like to get them but I'm afraid they will look fake or that it might hurt.. Help!

I've never had one but I heard its a TON of pulling in your scalp and it hurts and some of your hair gets ripped out, so I personally wouldn't do it but it's your choice.

An you can't wash for however long you have them and you can't itch your head, you have to "pat your weave". I'm not sure but personally I don't think they look natural either

If done by the right person it shouldn't , it should match your color but also texture of your hair

I wear weaves often, especially in dryer months to protect my hair. As long as it is not too tight and there's no damage to your own hair, I say go for it! switching up your style keeps things interesting! - Kari www.chicagoings.com.

Get clip ins. I use them and they're perfection. Totally worth it.just make sure you wash them every four days and oil regularly. they don't hurt or pull on your real hair, you usually can't even feel them when they're in.

Exactly, I also heard from a few people that it itches.. Yeah, my mom is also a hairstylist so she would put them on..
Yes Kari, that's what I tought.. my hair is already long, but it just falls flat around my face, and I want a little more volume :)
Aldina, 2 years ago I had clips but I didn't like it very much.. but maybe, that was because I was younger and I hadn't the patience to take good care of it!
thank you all for your tips, I still don't know what do do, but I will keep your advice in mind :)

As long as you get a good quality hair weft it should look good and manage well. However, I have had two weaves that have really damaged my scalp and I had a couple bald spots from the weave. And when it starts growing out it can matte your hair really bad. I am scared to get another one and just letting my hair grow naturally. Clip ins are a great alternative cause they are less damaging and more versatile.

I have experimented with extentions. I like using hair glue. Its simple and the glue will come out without hair loss. I just did it myself. Used human hair tracks then cut little strips, part the hair put the glue on the track then hold it down and use a hair dryer to dry the glue. Super easy.

Human hair is better than synthetic in my opinion. So you can curl it and flat iron it! Add as much or little as you like.

But its hard to get the glue out of your hair? You would have to buy a special shampoo...I recommend a sew in.

With glue? I 've never heard of that before.. and how long does the extensions stay in your hair? I mean, until you have to take them out?

Um it can last a long time. I would leave them in for a few days or longer but you don't have to get special shampoo. You can use some type of oil to help get the hair glue out. Maybe olive oil, which is good for your hair anyway.

Personally clipped in extensions are the best I know some who had weaved they just didn't look right and there a lot of money, if you really want make sure the thickness and colour look right :)

You really has to make sure it gets done properly then. I had some once and it wasn't done very well, whenever I'm in for longer hair I use clips! They're definitely the best for me =)
The weaves itches and hurts getting done, but main thing is to make sure it's a professional who does it!

Invest in good quality human hair, and wear a satin sleeping cap at night. I've had two and it's a learning process, but I love having a weave.

I wear them some times.

You can wash them. if it hurts very bad while getting it done then the stylist is doing it wrong. be careful that its not to tight on your edges.

If your looking for a little extra volume try clip ins.

Stay away from glue ins please, even if you do use and oil base adhesive remover your going to see clumps of your hair fall out.

Yesterday I bought the hair for my weave. It's 100% human hair and it feels very natural. Tomorrow my mom will put them in, so I hope it doesn't hurt very bad and that it looks natural. Everyone thank you for your tips and I will keep them in mind! If anyone has tips for how I can take good care of the hair please tell me :D.

It will hurt a little but it should look very natural if done by the right person (my friend wears weaves sometimes)

If it hurts a little I'm sure I can handle it, but I saw an episode of Americas next top model and that girl was getting a weave and she was crying for weeks, and than they had to take them out.. That episode just scares me when I think about it :)
