A few years ago I used to have platinum blonde hair and was wanting to grow it out but my hair was so damaged I thought dying it a light brown would be somewhat healthier for it but when I went to my stylist she dyed it black! not wanting my hair to suffer anymore damage I left it and dyed my roots black once a month with a semi permanent color (my natural color is dark blonde). Well my hair was breaking off everywhere so I cut it all off and now its all grown out and quite healthy but I want to go back to a more natural color (no money to go to a salon) so I was thinking highlights? but how can I blend the black, my blonde roots and the hightlights together without looking ridiculous? thanks for your input!

How long has it been dyed black?

Honestly I would gradually go lighter not so fast because you don't want to have damaged hair by the end. Try using hi lift colors I don't hi lights are a good idea
