I have combination acne prone skin. Lately it's been really dry and dull, which doesn't help my blemishes.
Is there a night cream out there for acne prone skin that leaves it smooth and bright? Not bright as in bleach but bright as in more alive instead of dull.

Do you exfoliate? A night cream alone probably will not give you the brightness/glow.

As a woman of color that is acne-prone, a toner or mask with glycolic or lactic acids in it will help slough off the dead skin cells and expose the new skin. Once this is done (anywhere from 1 to 3 times a week is normal), you can then add a nice cream WITH oil for the evenings during the colder dryer months.

I have a normal to oily skin. I live in the Northeast. Here's what I have been using this season...
Day: "Simple" toner, Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream and Skoah Dewlux 30
Night: An Olive oil/Lemon Juice/Honey mixture made at home to remove my makeup, cleanse with Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel, Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream, Carol's Daughter Acai Exfoliating and Clarifying Toner and Acai Hydrating Face Butter or Skoah Dewlux Face Kream or Skoah Face Kream

I only exfoliate once a week but I'll definitely try increasing the times I do. I didn't know Carol's Daughter sold skincare products. I had been using Neutrogena products but they don't seem to do enough. Thank you for those great recommendations. I will definitely give them a go.

Dermatologist say not to exfoliate more than 2x's a week for acne prone skin and use a mild exfoliator if you exfoliate with a harsh cleanser the grains scratch your skin + pimples and makes them pop which can lead to scarring and forcing bacteria to seep into your pores and create more pimples!

Loving this advice! I've had blemished oily skin for as long as I can remember! I have also been using the body shop tea tree night cream as it helps scars fade too! Good luck!

Agreed. That is the reason why I recommended a toner or masks. Scrubs will only further irritate blemishes/breakouts.

Wow! I did not know that scrubs can irritate my acne even more. I use facial scrubs a lot but my skin wasn't clearing up. Now I know why. I never thought they were bad. I thought using a scrub was good enough to use as an exfoliant. Thank you so much for the great advice!

I want to try the honey cinnamon mask!
