I am debating after looking to pursue a career in beauty, but after looking at prices and the cirriculum I am confused on whether I should get my cosmo's license or esthiology. I love both as I am a true girls girl and beauty addict. But don't know which better suites me. Does anyone know if there if still a market for estheticians? Obviously hair always, but eventually I would love to work with a PS or dermatologist and get discounts lol. help.

I'm a Master Aesthetician in the State do Utah and Idaho and Its the best thing I've ever done! You defiantly have to have a passion for it, not just for the discounts.:) I've worked for my own out of a salon, I've worked at a Medi-Spa with Lasers and assisted with Botox/Fillers and now I work in a Dental Spa and do Dental Assisting on the side and work on commission. I truly have a passion for what I do. It's the best thing ever. I really think it depends on where you live, according on how well you will do with an aesthetics license.

I'm a recent cosmotology graduate and I was in the same position before I started. I have always loved skin and makeup but I also wanted to be able to do everything in case I decided I did not like skin. sooo I decided cosmotology was right for me! I am planning to get my license soon but I am hoping to develop a career in freelance makeup. the good thing about cosmotology is that you qualify for hair, skin, nails, and makeup which opens a lot of doors.. the downside to that is if you know you would like to work with skin for sure then becoming an aesthetician is your best bet because as a cosmotologist you are not able to perform certain things that aestheticians are qualified to perform. for example, chemical peels. also, a salon that is willing to train you further may allow you to perform facials in their salon even though you are not a licensed aesthetician because a cosmotology license allows you to perform basic skin services. I would say that if you know your passion lies with skin then do aesthiology because it goes more in depth when referring to skin. good luck!
