I have naturally brown hair and I had partial blonde highlights put in about 5 months ago. I really don't think it suits me at all. I've used "Nice and Easy Perfect 10" before in the past and it worked great. I used it about 2 weeks ago to cover my blonde highlights and I chose a colour that's one shade darker than my natural hair colour. It turned out amazing and then a week later almost all of it washed out and you can see most of my highlights. The colour isn't supposed to be semi-permanent. I feel like I will never get this horrible blonde out of my hair, and I don't want to spend a lot going to the salon. What's a good brand of hair dye I can buy to do it myself?

You need to go to Sally's and talk to them, they will help you pick out the correct color you need and everything you will need to color your hair. this will be the same amount as box hair dye, so you know its not that expensive. Also- please take in consideration what color are the highlights, if they are a pale yellow and you use a blue based brown it will come out with a green tint. Your best bet would probably be using a violet based/toned color to give you natural results on yellowish bleached hair. I would not suggest box hair dyes as they deposit plastic in the color and is very bad for your hair, it's hard to reverse the effects, damage, and color is harder to lighten/change.
Also read this to explain to you why your color didnt hold or take and what you can do.

I would also suggest using a protein filler on your hair directly before you color it again (you apply it to your hair twenty mins before coloring using a spray bottle and completely covering your already damp hair and then let sit for twenty mins and apply color as normal. This will help your color to come out even, as well as help it absorb better and longer lasting, it also will help prevent any damage to your hair - which if its really damaged where the highlights are this will be the best deep conditioner you could ever do, is to put the protein back into your hair. At Sally's they have a few different protein fillers, a clear one or a few different colors to refresh your color-I think the clear one is more conditioning and does a better job all together, but that's up to you. I would also suggest after you color your hair you don't wash it more than 3 times a week! Every other day is best so it will preserve your color, and invest in a good color treated hair shampoo an conditioner! That should help protect your color! Hope I helped!!

Just don't use Clairol product! It has metallics in it so if you ever need the color stripped it causing a chemical reaction and the color will barely budge. When I did use box dye I always used L'oreal, because they have a professional color line. I just figure they must know what their doing!

Pravana hair products are amazing! I dyed my hair with Chromasilk Vivids in Red. My hair is soooo soft, super red, and it lasts a lot longer than the hair color I had before!
