How to wear coloured eyeliners?

I'm always intrigued by coloured eyeliners but I feel like I would look like a clown if I wore it lol. How do you pull off a coloured eyeliner?

Haha I don't have a face shaft but I love taking a bright colored eyeliner, making a thick wing and then over it use a very think black line. Just to define my eyes.

Here are my color schemes:

Blue eyeliner:
Black, gray eyeshadow

Gold:
Honestly with just about any color eyeshadow

Yellow: (my favorite)
A light-barely-there pink
Copper
Gold
Brown
Gray
