I use baby shampoo, and sometimes as mentioned above, olive oil. There's also some great videos on YouTube where you can find how to clean brushes.

You can use regular soap, olive oil, or baby shampoo if you don't want to buy anything extra; however, there is a reason cleaners were made for brushes. Some regular soap cleaners or baby shampoo can cause your brushes to fray or become more rough. Maybe think about investing a couple bucks into a good brush cleaner in the future.
