Try Elf's mineral serum primer before you use any foundation & make sure you let it completely dry first! I have really dry skin and it helps me soo soo much with not looking cakey and creased with liquid foundation, if you know what I mean? I love NYX hd studio foundation($12 at ulta), and maybeline dream matte mousse ($8-10 at most drug stores, I think walmart is the cheapest though). Those both work really well for me! And also using a setting spray can help make you not look cakey or powdery too, I use model in a bottle setting spray, it was $13 online at amazon.
