Advice? Sometimes if I'm lucky it turns out nicely but other than that it's just..not good. Tips?!

I'm not sure what kind you use, but use pencil liner. Go slowly, start from the inside corner of your eye to the outside, and then smudge a bit to make it better.

Make sure and use a soft pencil eyeliner. The best ones are the ones you twist to get more of the pencil. Those are the soft ones :)

I've used liquid and the retractable pencils. I love this look but I can never get it. I have a problem with making it thinner towards the inner corner of the eye :(

Put your finger at the side of your eye and stretch your eye sideways if you're having trouble keeping the line straight. And rest the hand you're applying it with on your cheek as you do it. If you're struggling to get it close to the lash line, pull your eyelid up a bit with your finger instead. You can do a bit of both if its both things you struggle with. Also try applying it in little short strokes and then going over it once you have the basic shape. Hope that makes sense, it's hard to explain how to do stuff in words!x

For that look you need to tight line your eyes. Close your eye, pull your eyelid up to reveal the 'upper waterline' if you know what I mean and line that part. Do your lower waterline too. Then use the tips I listed above to try and master the upper lash line :) just keep practicing. Look for tight lining on google, there's lots of tutorials x

Sorry, now I'm spamming lol but I noticed what you said about getting it thinner towards the inner corner. Make sure your pencils very sharp or try switching to gel or liquid and stretch the eyelid upwards with your other hand slightly on the inner corner, it will help you get it thinner and closer to the lash line x

Use gel eye liner or a felt tipped liquid liner. Those get the most control for top liner.

Its not so much in working with the eyeliner itself to make the inner portion appear thinner, its more in how you blend or smudge your liner. blend or smudge the outer portion until it appears thicker and clean the line towards the middle with a q tip if it looks thick.

That could work for a soft look, but for a crisp line line for a cat eye I think you definitely need more precision when applying it x
