So many Asian women might suffer from the same fate as my hair - it is just TOO straight! Which is fine some days but other days when I don't want to take the time to blow dry my hair and just let it dry naturally I want to have nice beachy wavy hair and my hair is somewhat wavy but needs a lot of help.. any tips for uplifting heavy hair so that it takes a curl? Even when I curl and put hairspray my curls are usually gone by midday ans hair is straight again.. please help!

I have hair like yours, and I use Flexible rods/Super Rollers overnight in my hair. They're basically a wore rod with foamish material around them. I use about 20 and the Super rollers are quite cheap. I usually wet my hair a little with a spray bottle, wrap up my hair (sometimes I add some mousse), and then sleep with them on wearing a sleep cap thingy. When you take out rods /rollers the curls might look funny, but I usually brush with my fingers and scrunch in some mousse+ hairspray. If the rods/rollers you buy are too big (depending on your hair length) you really won't get any curl at all, just a kinky mess. They really aren't that uncomfortable to sleep on :)

^^^oh I bought my super rollers at Sally's beauty supply for $8.99 a pack and they last forever! The flexi rods are more expensive, and I think you can buy them at walmart of other major stores.

I have the same problem. I have very fine hair that is very hard to get it to hold a curl. this weekend I used my chi straightener at 360 to curl it then I used bed head hard head hard hold hair spray to the point it was crunchy and brushed it out then did just a bit more to hold the style I wanted and I was so surprised my curls were there the next day!!

Use a wand I use one by her styler I got it on amazon, I love it , it works great , it has 3 attachments to it so 3 different sized curls , it holds all day without hairspray & even until the next day

I do have layers yes but they are more long layers and framing around my face my hair is very long and heavy so its hard to get it to do much of anything other than be straight... I will try overnight curlers because heat only makes my hair limp and dead unless I use tons of hairspray but it always makes it sticky or it won't last more than a few hours.. so we'll see how the curlers go.. in the past I have braided my hair wet overnight and taken it out in the morning makes it really wavy but again it doesn't last more than a few hours hair just gets straight again... so frustrating!

Try Paul Mitchell Hot off the press. Its a heat protectant but also gives hair a memory so when you curl or straighten it will stay that way.

I will try that but I am looking for more ways/products to curl without heat any more tips out there?

Don't wash and straighten it, leave it a day or two, doesn't matter if its greasy, it will curl better
And even if it does get greasy use dry shampoo, that works wonders, I feel using dry shampoo helps my hair sit better

Thanks - so far I have tried overnight curlers while hair is wet and that definitely made it curl but also very frizzy (which my hair normally is never frizzy) but when I blow dried it in the morning it calmed down a bit I used the PM round trip and sculpting foam and so far its near the end of the day and hair is at least still wavy :) thanks for all your help ladies!
