I usually do it once a week, but lately I've been seeing all different kinds of recommendations. Some even say to wash them after every use, Is that true?

I don't think you should wash them after every use, I think you should wash them based on how much you use them, and how dirty they get.

There isn't really a rule, but you should at least do some type of cleaning after every use. Instead of washing them everyday spot clean them after each use (wipe them back and forth on a makeup wipe). Personally, seven days is a lot to wait until cleaning them so I would say at least every five days. (:

I've heard once or maybe twice a week ( I guess depending on how much you use your brushes.

I wash mine every 4 days!! make sure when you dry bristles downward so gravity can pull water out if you let it up the bristles will fall off faster because water soaks in the adhesive glue inside the base between the brush and its bristles.

Use a brush cleanser between uses. I favour the mac brush cleanser. Deep clean every week (if you don't use them often you can stretch it to 2 weeks) :D.
