How do I create a perfect smokey eye?

Always use an eyelid primer, my fave is the one by e.l.f it's a perfect dupe for UD's primer potion. Using the proper brushes and blending will play a huge part in the outcome as well. To get perfectly crisp lines on your outer-V use scotch tape. Put it on the back of your hand first to take off most of the adhesive but put it in the outer corners and then when you apply your shadow the tape will catch the extra and you won't have to be as careful. Remember that a smokey eye doesn't have to be silver & black - try browns, golds, purples, anything! Just choose 3 similar or complimentary colours :) hope this was helpful!
