When I contour my face with bronzer or brown shadow it looks like I rubbed dirt on my face. it also rubs off half way through day and looks splotchy.

The problem here is your bronzer is too dark for your skin and the formula is not right for your skin. Try buying a lighter shade with a peachy-ness and try to find a mineral bronzer that will help it with the splotching.
