Hello chaps. Right, my skin... From a distance it looks quite clear, but in good lighting you can see all these tiny tiny bumps all over. I imagine it's blocked pores. Also it's so, so dull. I have a wrinkle across my forehead and the skin under my eyes is starting to look really old and disgusting as well. ALSO (yeah, there's about 1000 problems) it's like it's dry and oily at the same time. It's dull and it feels tight if I don't moisturise but by the end of the day it's shiny as if its oily.
So anyway... I know the blocked pores are from wearing so much makeup, but I can't bear not to wear makeup... The forehead wrinkle as always been there, so maybe I'm just always surprised or something, but I also know the skin around my eyes is probably looking shitty from removing my makeup... And I know that it probably is getting shiny because I work in McDonald's. I also know that I probably need more sleep, but I do shift work because the store is 24 hrs and having a good sleep routine is never gonna be an option unless I find a real job AND I know that the fact that I smoke is gonna make all of these things worse.
BUT all that considered... Does anyone know of any products that might help with any of those things? I want my skin to be kind of tighter looking and 'plumper'... Dewy and healthy looking but not shiny... And for my pores to be less blocked.
Any advice other than amputating my head would be much appreciated :)
Merci!xxx

Try hydrate your skin from the inside (drink at least 2 liters of water a day - "waterbalance" app may really help you; then try effaklar line from la Roche Posay - I like it vvvery much, it keeps my pores clean (though it doesn't tighten them :( )

I drink quite a lot of water, but I will try to drink more. I just feel like my skin lets my face down, it's not like its really spotty or anything most of the time, it's just generally dull and looking a bit tired and stressed. Makes me grumpy! I will look up the product you recommended too. Thanks :)

Hi Kim
I would recommend using dermalogica precleanse to start ur routine as this is an oil based cleanser or attracts to oil in your skin and removes without drying leaving the skin beautiful soft and clear of make up ready for a treatment cleanser. I think Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel would suit your skin as its a gel based cleanser that foams it will hydrate the dehydration lines u suffer with without being to heavy on your skin whilst clearing out those pores. Your exfoliation should be Dermalogica Daily Microfoilant as this is a daily rice enzyme exfoliant that will gently remove dead skin cells to leave your skin feeling smooth and bright every day ! Finally I think u should use Dermlogica Active Moist as this is a light weight moistuisers that will minimize oil and shine on the skin without excess drying. I hope this helps please contact me for any other advice as I am a Dermalogica skin specialist

Thanks for the advice, the pre cleanse definitely sounds like something I need. I feel like my skin just needs all the years of crap sucking out of it lol. The lines I have definitely sound like dehydration lines, if you look at my pics of my eye makeup you will see what I'm talking about under my eye. I'm only 22, so it can't be old age yet!

It's most probably expression lines and dehydration lines around the eyes. Dermalogica have fantastic eye products also; Total eye care SPF 15 is tinted and has light reflectors so this will reduce any dark circles and help to brighten the eyes dramatically also very hydrating and targets fine lines

And of corse it's SPF which is so important to minimize ageing hehe x

Yeah I'm a natural red head and can burn in like May in England very easily lol so I probably should consider making sure I wear sun cream or something with a fairly high SPF in every day. To be honest, I think it's mainly from wearing makeup every day since I was about 10 that's done it. The skin on the rest of my body is nice and soft, it's literally just my face. It really just feels like it needs a very deep clean. I'm considering looking into treatments that salons do, but I don't know how good they are. Maybe even a cosmetic procedure, there's that dermobrasion malarkey or a chemical peel or whatever they do, but it sounds a bit scary, I'd hate to end up even worse off, because its not like there's anything majorly wrong, I'm just being vain and karma may well turn round and bite me on the arse x

I definately wouldn't advise going down the chemical peel or microdermabrasion route at such a young age as this can have some very harsh effects on the skin especially breaking your natural barrier function and increasing sensitivity. I think you should contact your nearest salon that offers dermalogica products and treatments and book yourself a 1st time
Facial. In this treatment your therapist will do a very in depth consultation with you and once in the treatment room she will analyse your face and tailor make the facial to all your concerns and needs. After this she will give you a sheet with recommended products for you and how to use them. There all some lovely products that can be used in a professional treatment that could give u the same affects as a chemical peel/microdermabrasionbut in a much safer and better way for your skin to tolerate. I do exfoliate every day but I only use clean and clear because I've never splashed out for skin care. Probably a bad move. Also what I used to sometimes put on my face at night was Vaseline, I suppose because its a barrier cream it stops anything else getting to my skin while its repairing itself. It made it feel lovely but if I did it too often my pores would end up getting a bit too open. Maybe I should try it again once in a while or invest in a good night cream as you said :) thanks for the advice! The info about the different exfoliants and the plumping ingredients will come in handy too!
