What are some goo products or home remedies I could use to combat my split ends, please help! I use straightening serum already to lessen the damage but it doesn't seem to be helping

TreSemme (Idk if I spelled it right haha) has a really good conditioner specifically for split ends. I've been using it for a week and it's already helped a lot. It claims to reduce 80% of split ends in three uses, and idk about that but I'm definitely seeing an improvement. And it's cheap!

you can't repair split ends but you can prevent them by using the right products specially made for split ends. The only way you can get rod of them is to cut it

I use maple syrup. You heat it up and apply to the bottom half of your hair works great it just takes a good scrubbing to get it out.

The only way to "repair" split ends is TO GET A HAIR CUT. There is no such product that i have coma across in my 25+ years experience as a hairstylist/colorist. I do not care what these people advertise. The only way to really combat the problem is to get reg trims and STOP FLAT IRONING. That thing is a nightmare to me. I like wavy hair- not poker straight. Tousled hair is very sexy. My daughter is a preteen an she has the most amazing wavy curls. Its thick and beautiful. Ive taught her to embrace what she has and she limes her hair. Shes so blessed to have such awesome hair. (She did not get it from me). I never use a flat iron in any of my clients. I can get the same result with a round brush and a blow dryer. Im assuming you use a flat iron- thats the main cause for split ends. :)

All those products to " cure" split ends are full of silicone that temporarily seal the ends together until you wash it out. You aren't fixing anything. If you keep ignoring the problem and do not trim your hair, it will do it for you by continuing to spilt up the entire hair shaft until it breaks off. Get a trim 1/2 inch off every 6-8 weeks and you will see those split ends gone. Also, get a heat protectant for flat iron use or blow drying.

I put up 2 threads about split ends- no one seems to want to hear the truth. Its the easiest thing ever- get a trim!!

you have to trim your ends to rid your hair of split ends. it is also a reason why your hair doesn't grow. add your hair continues to grow, the ends well split because they are dry and damaged.

Getting a trim is great for people who want to do it but for those who don't have long hair hate getting it cut I'm a hair dresser n love using home remedies and maple syrup is one of then it adds moisture and shines your hair making split ends look less noticeable

As a hairdresser you should recommend your clients to get regular trims. Whether their hair is short or long. As a professional they should take your advice. I would never ever telly clients to put syrup of any type on their hair! I remember trying to get that out of my daughters hair when she was 2. All i do is laugh at some of the "remedies" on this sight. Whatever floats your boat...

As a stylist elisa you should know that regular micro trims help not only battle split ends, but also let the hair grow longer. Your hair grows 1-2inches per month depending on your genetics. You should be trimming 1/2 inch every 6-8 weeks. You won't lose length at all!! You will actually GAIN length and thickness at the ends because you are making the ends clean and healthy.

I'm just giving my advice it's what works for me if you want to try go ahead if not that's fine too

I've never been to a hairdresser that understood the concept of a "micro" trim of less than an inch. I do that myself and go to a hairdresser to keep up the shape and the layers. Then again, I have long hair so I can maneuver it to get a straight line for dusting my ends.

BUUUUUT back to the point. You can't fix split ends. Some products kind of sort of glue them down to make it appear smoother, but they're not fixed. It's like putting a bandaid on a broken leg. Get them trimmed, back off the heat styling and use a heat protectant when you do use heat.

Jessica, I didn't say you were wrong at all. I love my hair dresser because when I say 3 inches, she does three inches. But if I told her half or a quarter inch, she'd look at me like I'm batty. She'd do it because I tip her well, but she already thinks I'm crazy enough lol. I've never had a problem doing microtrims myself and I personally don't see the point in forking over hard cash and taking time away from HER to do higher paying clients or myself for such a minor thing.

My clients are all the same whether they gat a trim or color. It doesnt matter- im independent- money is money. :)

@ Mia C. I was just thinking the same thing lol. Some home remedies work and some don't. They're not all ridiculous though. But then again what do I know...I use coconut oil on my hair and get tons of hair compliments. Some people think those products with tons of parabens and ingredients they can't even pronounce are worth it while others like natural remedies to each their own. I think protecting your hair before flat ironing is your best bet and trimming as well.
