I eat a very good diet, and take skin hair and nail tablets.
Any advice? Or should I bother my doctor about this?

It's growing, it's just splitting. Top layer of your nails are damaged, I'm growing out the same problem. I've used nail oil and I use polish to protect from further splitting. Also it will grow faster in summer. And if you're restricting calories it will grow slower too v

Haha I wish I restricted calories
I just eat healthy. LoaDs though lol.
I use a good hand and nail cream each night.
So putting polish on is the best idea? I miss having pretty nails :-( and artificial nails are a no go! Xx

bathe them in olive and almond oil mixed and warm the oil up a little bit :) don't put your nails in water too much and always put on some nail polish to streinght them a little..
good luck

For a strengthening nail polish try one of Sally Hansen clear polishes directed towards the nails.

I have this problem as well. Ever since I did gel nails. My own nails suck now. They grow funny. Break easily. This happened after the holidays

Tip Top has a great cuticle oil and a nail polish called miraculous results, very good. Also, Natura has a natural tissue salt, Hair and Nails booster, helps with the growth if you want to try grow it out quicker.

You can get a strengthener from Sally's beauty supply store called starting over after artificials by salon sciences- which I know you may not have had on acrylic nails but this is so good for breaking, pealing, splitting, and is full of vitamins and protein that it will literally save your nails! There's also another one they have called instant artificials which is just a base coat polish that in two coats makes your nails super thick. I have horrible breaking nails and I use both of these under every polish and they keep it on for well over a week- and make my nails so much more healthy and strong. I've never used anything like it- the only downside is I think they're around $15 a piece- but well worth the investment and you can always take them back to Sally's if it doesn't work for you!
