How to stop your nose from going red and sore when you have a cold?

I have a cold right now (working in child care means you get all the bugs) and I'm starting to sneeze a lot and I don't want to have that icky red nose that no amount of make up fixes. What can be done to stop it from happening in the first place?

Scrub whenever you feel your nose it's starting to peel and the skin around it becomes flaky. Then, moisturize well. But of course, take meds for that cold of yours. Take care :)

Kleenex do great tissues with a balm, they r fab and help stop ur nose getting saw and red! I used them last time I had a cold and they worked a treat! get well soon

I have just got over a cold and nivea creme (in the blue pot) was my savour to stop that angry red rawness. I hope you feel better soon :)

This might sound gross but when you blow your nose, have the tissue like not really touching your nose, and wipe gently by just touching the bit between your nostrils. And another alternative is when you're at home, blow your nose under a running tap. Gross, but it will save your nose a lot. I personally would avoid exfoliating as it would just stress my skin more.

And do not exfoliate, nina obviously has never had a cold before and exfoliated. THAT WOuld Just give you more sensativity. Sometimes at night I put vaseline on my nose to relieve it from all the klennex I use.

Use tissues that have aloe Vera in them, Kleenex make good ones.
Also, as Carmen said, try to only use them gently and try blowing your nose under running water. I use nasal irrigation which is really effective and cleans out your whole sinuses. It's a bit gross at first but once you get used to it, you'll see how good it is. You can buy kits from your chemist.
I also recommend eucalyptus vaporisers or simply putting a few drops in a little water in an aromatherapy burner. I like to smear a tiny amount of vick's vapour rub under my nose before bed. If your skin is irritated this may burn a little for a second, but the oil keeps the skin moist whilst acting as a barrier and the eucalyptus helps you breathe easier as it helps open up your sinuses.

Hmm try using tissues with added lotion or aloe and don't use paper towels or napkins and put lotion or Vaseline based lip balm where the red is at night to rejuvenate
