I have this foundation that I had for dancing years ago and it's way to dark ( we had to have dark foundation) and I want to keep it and use it up but what are some ways up lightening up a foundation ?

If you have truly had that foundation for years now, it would be wise to throw it out. Also, lightening a foundation would involve buying another foundation anyway. So it is best if you just bought a new foundation. Hope that this somewhat helped.

If its years old just go buy a new one.

I agree with the others. A foundation shouldn't last you for years. Throw it out. Buy a new one that properly matches your skin.

There's a MAC face and body foundation in white.
I'm pretty sure it's face and body. :)

Add some moisturizer to it- it will thin out the coverage a but but it will lighten it up. I also recommend buying an even lighter color foundation to mix with the dark one to create your actual shade.
but I have to agree with Amber- if it's years old then you should throw it out because it can trap bacteria

Add a moisturizer, particularly one with SPF in it because SPF tends to cast a white shadow which will lighten up the foundation just enough! I have a ton more of tips and tricks on my channel, YouTube.com/graceandglamor

Ok... this idea may seem a bit funny but go back to a store you know sells your foundation... find the lightest shade that has your undertones and ask for a sample... say your friend loved it on you and that you wanted to pick up a sample for her... they always will give you a sample (and maybe a hint of bitchiness... oh well)... I always do this in the fall when my summer foundation is too dark... it saves me from spending another 40 bucks and it works great. just mix it into your foundation... the sample.they give you should be the perfect amount. foundation does go bad... it might look great but a lot of ingredients will clog the pores when they go bad... esp vit c.
