Rubbing alcohol is a liquid that's typical used as a disinfectant (for wounds, surgical tools, whatever). It has other purposes, though, as seen with the newspaper nails. It's usually found in the health and/or first aid section of stores.

To start, It's not drinkable alcohol. It's ethanol or isopropanol. It's used in disinfectants such as hand sanitizer. It is used to sterilize cuts or before you get a needle or piercing, they rub the area down with rubbing alcohol. You can buy it at drugstores and grocery stores.

I use rubbing alcohol to clean and disinfect my earrings. I usually soak them in a cup for 10 minutes.
