Instyler curling iron for short hair help!!

I recently bought the 1 1/4 inch instyler when i had long hair and now i regret it coz i cut my hair and the curls look abit too voluminous for me :( i wish i bought the smaller barrel one now but im stuck with the big one. Dies anyone have any tips of curling medium hair with the instyler??
