I have alot of dark spots and i know lots of tips!
1) In a bowl, mix baking soda and water and apply the paste on your face until its dry
2) cut an onion or a lime in half and rub it on your face every morning and night
3) i use a cream for dark spots : La roche posay : Mela D, it works well
4) each time you pop a pimple (but avoid doing that), run an aloe vera leaf on the popped pimple to avoid scarring

1. Buy a %30-%50 glycolic peel and do it at home once every 2 weeks. It did wonders for my dark scars. Mine are all lighter than my skin now because I did these things I'm listing.
2. I have a microdermabrasion machine called Microderm MD, it is the best one on the market. It's pricey($300) but worth it works wonders on scars.
3. Zinc Oxide cream!!!! Buy Diaper rash cream w the highest % of zinc oxide. Mine is 40%. It is a unknown secret I found out through tons of research and it is one of the only things that actually work over the counter. If is supposivly fades red/dark areas with continuous usage. Vitamin e is great but it won't fade dark marks like these things do.
-I picked my face as a side effect of medicine I was on and destroyed my entire face with deep scars. So bad that I don't have a social life bc I am ashamed of how I look. So take it from me, these tricks truly work getting rid of all hyper pigmentation, and pretty fast. One thing I forgot to add- Retin-A works amazing too. Better than zinc but you need a doc to write you a script. Hope these help, I know how you feel.

I'm so sorry for intruding on someone else's questions, but jaclyn, does the zinc oxide work on stretch marks as well? Or anyone really, can these remedies also help stretch marks? I'm so sorry Jessi for intruding on your post, I've just been using mederma for a while and nothing has helped and it's just embarrassing! :(

I could be wrong, so don't lynch me, but i am pretty sure zinc oxide is the ingredient in sunscreen. So while it is always a good idea to protect scars from sun to prevent darkening, that's it. It doesn't necessarily help in the actual lightening. I also believe its not recommended at heavy "doses" consistently. moving on...
Things I have used:
Lemon juice and kitchen stuff like apple cider : works but slow and steady finishes that race. Is equal to time and religious sunscreening via clothing or lotion. Good in combination with other things.
Microdermabrasion : Just the same as scar creams , best in combo with other methods.. I usually just do my regular sugar coffee scrub almost daily though instead since my dermatologist recommends daily exfoliation.
Various scar creams: work, some better than others, some not at all. Philosophy and Caudalie are my faves.
Retinol creams : These work but come with a price! 20 year's ago, when I was young I used these frequently. The scars are gone... but now in the areas that I used it my skin is actually lighter (!) (Even took away a large birthmark, kinda sad about it and wish I wouldn't have done that...) and the lights spots don't tan out or blend when I do get sun. They stay light... So dark spots or light spots, yay.... Had I known, I would have just let time take the scars and not used these. That is just MY experience, different creams have different results on different skin!
Chemical Peels : Very good option, great results in good time. Personally, only recommended for older users, you really have to know what you are doing, understand %s, be willing to use minimal strengths then working their way up instead of hitting it full blast too strong too often, you WILL do more damage than good if you are not careful! Also works best within a regimen involving other methods for very rapid results.
I have yet to try dermarollers but really really want to! They have wonderful reviews for many uses like stretch marks and scars.
Whatever you use there are two ingredients that are ESSENTIAL to success...
Patience and Consistency. You can't cry something was a waste of time.and money because you didn't notice a difference in a week when you used it twice as opposed to daily :/ Start by taking a picture without makeup in good lighting. BE CONSISTANT AND ALWAYS FOLLOW PRODUCT DIRECTIONS! Each week take a picture in the same place with the same light to compare. Give most products minimum 6 weeks to really show results. Good luck!

Zinco oxide is in sunscreen, but it also acts as a exfoliates and dries skin so it turns over super fast. Works better then my retin A cream. And it soothes skin when it's irritated and has anti bacterial components which when applied to pimples and abrasions will help heal them. You need a higher % than what is in a zinc sunscreen. That's why I suggest diaper cream. :)

Jessica, I forgot to mention one of the best ways to diminish stretch marks: Derma Rollers! I have one and it is amazing! Hurts a little but you can ask your doctor for a anesthetic cream like Emla and that helps. That's what I did an she wrote me one just like that. Make sure when you buy one the needles aren't lined up next to eachother, you want to needles to have a zig zag pattern so when you roll it the needles don't penetrate the same holes over again. Get my drift? If you are confused just google how to choose a good derma roller. There's lots of differe t kinds out there on the market but some are low quality.
