Hmmm I'm not sure if its just me, but has anyone noticed how the Benefit's they're real mascara sends you to clump city? I'm really trying to love this mascara but it just gives me way too much clumps. Any tips/tricks to put it on to avoid clumping? Thanks a lot ;)

Ave M. What drugstore brands can you suggest? Something that thickens and holds the curl all day? Thanks ;)

I actually liked it! I have naturally straight shortish lashes and found it worked well for lengthening and the brush helped give me some curl. I prefer my mascara a bit drier as well, I usually only apply lightly the first few times. For this particular mascara I had clumps when I first used it because I applied it like a basic mascara. But then I realized this mascara is supposed to build up your lashes, so the formula is thicker, so I tried applying differently with great results! When I use this now, I make sure none of my lashes are tangled or overlap, then put the wand at the very base of my lashes (as close to eye w/o touching as you can, I suggest waterline) then very slowly pull the wand through your lashes while gently turning the wand counter clockwise toward the ground. The slow prevents clumps, the turning aids the curling process and makes the liquid go on evenly instead of all at once.
*I didn't have to purchase mine, but I might get more when my sample runs out. Really the technique changed everything. On the first layer each stroke takes me about four seconds, after that I just touch up spots that need more.

Thanks ladies. For letting me know your thoughts with they're real, with Katelynn D. I'll try to do your trick before I finally give up with it, one last try. Lol. Thanks again ;)

I use that mascara every day. It took me a little while to get used to it also. But i love it. I found it starts clumping when its getting to when you need a new one. I think its great. I layer it over other mascaras. For added length.

Cover girl lash blast isn't terrible. Certain almay mascaras are ok too. I use tartes lash hugger and macs dazzle lash (which isn't great).
I'm super picky about mascaras and all the ones I loved in highschool have been discontinued. Still on the search for my holly grail.

If this is happening to you, it might be due to the product being too old and it might mean you need to change your tube. Also, a great tip to try is wiping the wand off with a paper towel as soon as you open it. Or try using a lash primer to help protect your lashes and give the other lash product flexibility. Other than that, I'm not too sure. I have straight VERY short lashes and I find this product works really great. Good luck.

It definitely starts to clump up for me after a 2 coats. It's too watery for my liking. I'll still use it but eh

For me, less is more. I only brush it in my lashes about 5 times, 1 coat only.

I am not a fan of that mascara, but I find using an eye lash primer (looks white like if you're unsure) helps tremendously with clumping. I have long lashes and they always clump with this, but after using a primer, it's clump free and even longer length than with the mascara alone!

I really want to love it, but I'm not too amazed by it either. It does an okay job, but I still layer another mascara over it for a more dramatic effect.

For a cheap and quick fix: dip a q- tip in baby oil and dab on lashes. It stops mascara from clumping :) Just dont put on too much.

I liked it, but there are a lot better and cheaper ones at the drugstore
