My whole life I have heard people refer to someone that wasn't of model like looks, to be a "different kind of pretty". Then going threw my teens, I got told that same line daily. Now that I'm a mother and comfortable in my own skin, I hate the idea of someone telling that to my daughter someday. We're all different, right? Any one else hate the term?

Usually models are that 'different kind of pretty'. (:
Its not a bad thing. Everyone looks different, we all have unique features, some of us more unique then others. It shouldnt hurt if someone says it.

Oh, I agree. I believe that everyone has their own beauty. It's dumb how people put a standard to beauty, like it's an example people should follow. But really... it doesn't matter if you're modeling lingerie or scrubbing toilets, everyone has their qualities and everyone deserves to (as you put it) feel comfortable in their own skin! :)

A different kind of beauty is an exotic look someone has . The regular beauty is the girl next door type like only cute.

I guess the problem I have with it, is that is usually used instead of a straight on compliment.
