olive skin/ NC vs C vs NW

hello, I didnt like Mac for sometime due to them not having my correct color,but recently I went and I was given C5 of Studio Fix Fluid Broad Spectrum. I am trying to figure if it is right for me because later in the day it looks ashy. Could someone explain the difference between N and C( the undertone). I looked up comparable Mac colors and it gave me NC42/43.
