If you are talking about Mac shades, C5 is warm toned and N5 is Cool toned.

how do i know if am warm or cool tone?

Warm is yellow toned and pink is cool toned.

I am going to piggy back on this tread instead of starting a new one, but at MAC I'm NW47. I always assumed that NW stands for Neutral Warm and since they go opposite of the colour wheel that means I'm a COOL. However, I went to NARS and tried it on and was match to Trinidad which is described as "Dark 3 - Dark with warm, yellow undertone". I really want to figure out my undertones. I can't see my veins to see if blue or green, but general all the cool type colors look better on me; however, I look better in gold than silver. Does that mean I'm neutral?

If your neck is more yellow- NW
If its more pink - NC

@BethanG - if someone is more pink, why would they wear a yellow foundation like the NCs are? Shouldn't they wear something that matches their skin? Or maybe I'm confused?
