What are some ways I can lighten my hair without bleaching or harsh chemicals. I am naturally a dirty blonde and my roots are about an inch and a half grown out now, it looks trashy. Please help.

bleaching is usually the only option to lighten such a dark color. there is also a treatment that strips away all the color from your hair, but its not bleaching. but either way you should see a professional. they can tell you all the options. as bad as bleaching sounds, i did it to take off all the boxed hair dye i had in my hair, and had a deep conditioning treatment done right after. it is a scary thing to do but if you habe the deep conditioning after the bleach is taken out, your hair should be fine. my hair after the deep cond was back to normal.

Henna is natural. I sprayed lemon juice and camomilla tea in my hair this summer while I was at the beach (in the sun) and my hair turned a lot blonder (I'm a dirty blonde). My hair was perfectly fine with no damage, but when you stop doing it and going out in the sun a lot, it fades away. For black hair It would probably turn it auburn. If your hair is colored though, it might change it to a weird color. Also if your hair becomes dry, condition it(mine didn't). lol hope it helps!
