How old are you? I can tell you from experience that telling your mother that you're "grown up" is not a good way to get her to let you do anything.

Perhaps offer to do something, like help around the house, I don't know, and maybe as an award? Award. Reward. I don't remember what the difference is, but you get it, haha. I'm not really sure how you can "convince" someone otherwise.
