Just wondering how everyone layers their mascara. Is it better to wait for the first coat to fully dry or try to build while still somewhat wet? and how many coats do you guys usually build?

I start with a light mascara like maybelline's gel-mousse to separate my lashes and then pack on the heavy hitter thick mascara. The gel-mousse never really gets stiff so I find it doesnt make much difference wet or dry.I go over this once with the thick mascara for a full lash and maybe once or twice more for a dranatic falsies look. I like to build this part wet because its easier to separate any clumping lashes.

Take the excess off the wand and do thin layers. Too much makes them clump. Wayne Goss (gossmakeupartist on YouTube) has fantastic advice on building mascara if you want to see a tutorial.

Using a lash comb while the mascara is still wet really helps reduce clumping.
