I always put on a layer, blot, press translucent powder onto my lips, then put on a second layer. I rarely (re: never) use lip liner, because I haven't found one that I really like enough (or feel like it does enough) to warrant the extra step.

What kind of lipstick are you wearing? And when you say keeping it on, is it fading, or traveling off your lips onto your face?

It just wears off ie. fades. I use different brands depending on the color I am using...I have everything from MAC to Rimmel. I think the powder may help as they just seem almost too creamy if that makes sense.

You might want to try a matte formulation of lipstick, they tend to be longer wearing. Creme and glossier formulations tend to wear off quicker.

Red is one of the most annoying lip colours. If you don't have a red lip liner (or a clear one) already, I'd go get one and use that before putting on lipstick.

Primer and liner. Even clear lip liner will help

Definitely try a matte lipstick. Those definitely stay on for a long time. But also invest in a red lip liner. When I wear a red lip, I line & fill my ENTIRE lips with the liner then apply my lipstick. I use Jordana's Sedona Red lipliner & Wet N Wild's 910D or 911D lipstick.

I put on a layer of this wet and wild juicy lip balm in red first. It acts as a primer and when your lipstick fades its still red underneath!

1. balm
2. concealer over your entire lip
3. outline with lip pencil, then fill in the entire lip with the same pencil
4. swipe on the lipstick
5. blot off excess.

My red lip survives 8+ hours and sushi dinner without using a long wear formula. I don't even reapply. I physically have to wash it off to get it off at the end of the night.

For me.. I put lip liner over my whole lip then I put lip stick and after put a little gloss stays on all day

I do exactly what Stephanie says, and it does help to prolong the wear, but you can get these lipsticks that don't budge, I used a Maxfactor one it was very good, think it was called lipfinity, not sure, also lip tints are good in staying put, body shop do good ones

Maybe switch to a lip stain. Whenever I use gloss, lipstick etc.. even with a lip primer they all fade away pretty quickly but a good stain can lasts for hours.

try a lip stain (: or invest in some lip liner. but the real culpret is you! the reason why you have to constantly reapply is because you lick your lips, conciously or unconciously, we all do. so the best way is to be aware of that fact and once the lips are perfect....don't lick!
