What properties are you looking for? What kind of red? Does price/brand/availability matter?

For a fairly simple easy to get buildable reddish stain the Benetint by Benefit is a classic, it has a brush applicator which is harder to use though. I also like the Urban Decay Lip Envy which is VERY bright red and has a doe foot applicator with a pot. Revlon & Cover Girl both make felt tip pen style ones that are good too. I collect lip stains and haven't had problems (other than the lip stain issues like feathering) with any of these. There are new types of stain glosses/gloss stains/stain sticks out there too that are a whole different sort of animal. It really depends on what you're looking for what specific colours & brands I would recommend.

Sorry I was writing my second comment when you posted yours I think. My favourite is probably the Urban Decay one. It's really super bright, but deep and has a sheen too. I just got the L'Oreal gloss stains that are supposedly dupes for the YSL ones, but haven't had a chance to wear them yet. Palladio from Sally Beauty has a great red stain that is really intense, in a marker format. I know smash box has one, but I haven't had a chance to get one yet. Stains are my all time favourite lip products, so I have a ton. :D Hope I could be of some help. If you have specific questions on how a brand is or a type I can give my thoughts.
