Jillian S.
Dear Beautylishers,
My name is Jillian, and I know absolutely nothing about makeup. There are several things about makeup that I have yet to explore. My everyday makeup consists of eye liner, eye shadow, mascara, and bb cream. That's it. I have a bronzer kit that I haven't touched in forever because I have no idea how to use it. Also...what is concealer? I feel like a disaster of a teenager! I don't know how to use pressed powder or blush for that matter. I don't know how to use liquid eye liner even though I have always wanted to use it. I don't ever know which brands to buy of makeup because I don't know the quality kinds or anything... PLEASE HELP ME!:(

I would say jump right in and start experimenting! Figure out and learn what type of skin you have, and what works for you! Visit beauty stores and makeup counters and ask as many questions as you like. Watch tutorials, YouTube will become your BFF! But most of all, practice, practice, practice!!! You'll get better and better! Oh and take good care your skin. :)

I agree with Andrea 100% I was so lost when I started getting into makeup when I was 18 but just practice and screw up and practice some more until you figure it out that's all you really can do :)

Lets start off with the easiest question to answer: concealer is (almost always) a cream product used to cover up problems areas on your skin. If you're using foundation, it's used to cover things the foundation doesn't quite cover enough. This includes redness, acne or acne scarring, and undereye circles.
Pressed powder is used to set foundation or face products, and in some cases to decrease oiliness/shininess. You can also use loose powder for this.
As for the rest of the make up stuff (how to apply, where to put blush/bronzer, etc), check out youtube videos! They give a lot of really good tips about applying and creating looks. Also, look at the pictures on here and the videos on here for inspiration. Practice a ton! You've just kinda got to jump in with both feet, and try out different stuff. You'll get the hang of it, it just takes some practice and patience.

YouTube will teach you everything and anything you need to know. Seriously. Just search makeup terms or looks and you're set.

Watch a lot of tutorials on youtube! Trust me you'll learn a lot from youtube;) then just start trying new products! E.L.F. Is a great brand for cheap makeup that is actually nice quality! I like other brands a lot though like bare minerals, but they can be expensive. I like covergirl and maybelline a lot for drugstore brands! And concealer is pretty much a foundation/cream kind of product that hides blemishes or dark spots.

Find a friend that you can learn with, that way you can teach eachother, my friend and I love sharing our new products and stuff, or if you have a friend who is good a makeup, go to the mall with them and have them explain things, it's super helpful!
