The most important thing to start with is a good brush kit. Good brushes can make less expensive product look like a million bucks.

Well, high end is generally better quality but that doesn't necessarily mean one is better than the other. I would invest in a good brush kit(sigma essentials is great), a concealer(the Kat Von D one is good a drugstore alternative is the hard candy concealer) a foundation(if you have good skin and don't need a lot of coverage go for a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, i use the bobbi brown one,if you need for coverage Kat Von d is good and revlon color stay isn't full but it's pretty close.) a basic eyeshadow palette(naked one or two or the Lorac pro palette), a good eye primer (UD primer potion or elf eye primer), a foundation primer( smashbox photo finsh is good, hard candy has a good primer too), mascara(any covergirl one is good, I would avoid MAC but too faced and Clinique are good), eyeliner (UD liners are good and wet n wild liquid liner is good too.) All MAC lipsticks are good. As for drugstore NYX is always good. Revlon has good lipsticks and glosses. Philosophy glosses are nice too. They smell really good. I hope this helps.

I think when you are starting out, putting a collection of your everyday makeup is a good place to start. I am a firm believer that if it works, it works. Whether it is high end or drugstore, there are good and not so good products out there! Figuring out how much time you are willing to spend and what your budget is, is always a good place to start. Let me know Dori W, if you would like some product suggestions!!!! :)

I realize now that I need to learn the beautiful art of applying this stuff first. I won't know what I need until I know what I want to do to my face. Usually, my "made up face" consists of using an eyeliner pencil just on the bottom, some clear lipgloss on my soup coolers lol, liquid foundation and powder, and some blush. That's about it. I barely know how to use those pieces let alone anything else smh......but I'd luv to learn. I'm thirty yrs old this year and I'd like to look the part lol.

I love Revlon Color Stay, I can wear it everyday if I want and it doesn't clog my pores, nor does it slide off my face lo "I have oily skin". A good brush kit is must have, also invest in the Naked 2 pallet it's a great go to for everyday or a night look. I love me some chocolate lipgloss and Bobbi Brown makes a great one, it's not sticky and looks so natural and pretty on.

I started learning about makeup from Kevin Aucion's book Making Faces. He explains EVERYTHING. He has other books, but start with that one. I know YouTube tutorials are super popular, but this book gives you the basics so YOU can decide what makeup you like. It's a must-read for any fan of cosmetics!

You can't go wrong with a neutral eye palette. Foundation is key if you have an uneven skintone otherwise opt for a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. I like the Makeup Forever HD foundation but I hear good things about the Revlon color stay. I found with the hard candy foundation you have to work with it quick cause it seems to dry fast. Concealer, blush, highlighter are musts. As long as your skin looks pretty is what matters.

I would start watching tutorials on YouTube to start out Learning to apply what you use and it may be a good idea to buy high end so that you can talk to one of the beauty advisors at the makeup counter :)

Here is what I would get:
-brush set (Barry M do a good cheap one)
-a bb cream rather than a foundation
-a mascara for length
-a mascara for volume
-gel liner (maybelline have the best one I believe personally)
-and finally a lipstick or gloss (I personally prefer gloss)
-good drugstore brands are sleek, Barry m, maybelline
-my favourite high street brands are benefit, urban decay and too faces :)
Hope this helped x
