Basic Makeup kit under$500??

If you had to buy the best makeup kit possible on less than $500, what brands for foundation, lipsticks, brushes, etc...would you get? What exactly would you need to cover a wide range of clients?? and this is to work on makeup clients! not for self use... This would be great help! Thx!! : )

I think it definitely depends on what kind of makeup artistry you were hoping to do i.e Bridal, Proms, Photoshoots etc.
It's definitely wise to spend the majority of your money on brushes and foundations, you need to have good tools as they can apply even the worst quality makeup as best as they possibly can, an amazing foundation with a terrible foundation will just look terrible!
I would suggest MAC Cosmetics for foundations as in my opinion they have the most varying colours and will be able to match anyone, the staff there are always super friendly and will help you decide which products are a must and which you can live without and you can ask for samples of products to try as well :)
Try and get a professional case to store all of your makeup in too so it stays clean and tidy and when you get to makeup jobs it will look more legit than just in a random bag.
Invest in a good foundation brush, duo fibre, lip brush and blush brush. The other brushes can vary in quality to begin with.
Obviously it's up to you what you decide to purchase, but from experience don't spend too much on eye shadow and lipstick to begin with, you can add those in later.
Long story short,
Lipsticks:
Definitely get a good red lipstick, MAC, Chanel, Dior etc.
A pink, purple and nude lipstick.
You can also blend lipsticks on a palette to create new colours in the mean time.
- Foundations, think about roughly who your client basis is going to be the majority of the time, buy foundations in the shades you're most likely going to use don't buy dark tones if you won't need them and vice versa. Again, you can mix colours to get a better match.
