How Do You Make Beautiful Curls

I use a curling wand and when I'm done I get curls but they just look dry and not lively. How do you get curls that are soft and not dry looking?

Add something to them after you curl such as a hair oil or serum. Not sure of the name but there is a product by Biosilk that works good
