Ombre hair what are your thoughts?

I don't like the full out ombre. To me it looks like you're broke and your hair looks fried from having lighter ends. I think a "semi-ombre" like Snooki had here is cute, where it's chunky, but more random and and still not at the root, which is what I have now, but with a blond/pink on the bottom.

I wonder if that look is still hot, I notice it's starting to fade away more and more. I think beach waves with a middle part are kind of sloppy and overdone too. I kind of prefer the chunky highlights and I hope they go back in style soon. Maybe in a more modern way, like a side part and add peek-a-boo chunks on the bottom, and longer hair.
