Bleek and bleachy

I dyed the tips of my hair red, as well as some other places too, then I dyed it all kind of a plum shade. not too bright cos my hair is naturally black. now it's dry and I can't get it back to it's old ways. should I cut the tips off? Really don't want to! Dye it all back to black and hope for the best? Has anyone any tips to get it's softness back. It used to be very easy to manage!

it doenst look like too much of it is discolored. I would cut the tips off instead of risking damage to the rest of my hair.
